Quang Binh Province is surrounded by Ha Tinh Province on the north, East Sea on the east, Laos on the west and Quang Tri Province on the south.

The provincial population is 895.430 (2019). There are 24 ethnic groups live here, predominantly Kinh, Van Kieu and Chut. Other minorities are in very small quantity with 100 persons each. All of 23 minority ethnic groups live in mountainous areas.

The province has a coastline of 116.04 km in the east and shares borders with Laos of 201.87 km in the west, there are Hon La, Highway No.1A and Ho Chi Minh Trail, North-South railway, highway No.12 and provincial highway No.20 and No.16 running from east to west through the International Cha Lo Border Gate and other sub-gates connected to Laos.

The terrain of Quang Binh narrow and sloping from west to east. 85% of total natural area is mountainous. The whole area is divided into basic ecological zones: high mountainous area, hilly and midland, lowland, coastal sandy areas.

Bai choi is a unique Vietnamese game combining folklore and a competition. The art is popular in the southern-central provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa. It is also well-known in Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces. Bai choi, which means a deck of cards (bai) and bamboo hut (choi), is a traditional competition combining folklore singing, prize-winning and a memory game. It often takes place on a wide yard in front of communal houses, gathering the entire community together.

Quang Binh is famous for many charming landscape of mountain and sea. The coast is dotted with blue water, yellow sand beaches that sparkle under forests of green willow trees.

Quang Binh as a strip of mural photo, forest, sea with beautiful natural scenery, famous attractions: Deo Ngang, Ly Hoa Gateway, Nhat Le Estuary, Hac Hai, Heaven Gate, and Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park that was recognized as a World Heritage.

Quang Binh is the land of cultural objects, the Bau Tro cultural sites, the sites of the culture of Hoa Binh and Dong Son, many historical sites such as: Quang Binh Gateway, Thay Rampart, Rao Sen, Ngo Citadel, Thinh – Nguyen citadels, much renowned places in two wars of aggression against invaders such as Cu Nam, Canh Duong, Cha Lo, Heaven Gate, Xuan Son, Long Dai, Ho Chi Minh Trail, etc.

Every year, Quang Binh attracts many visitors coming to interesting landscapes such as Phong Nha, Tien Son caves, primitive forest in Phong Nha – Ke Bang reserve, Nhat Le, Da Nhay beaches, Bang Mineral Hot Spring, etc. Among of them, Phong Nha- Ke Bang National Park has been recognized as the World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003.

In addition of these, Quang Binh preserves objects from Bau Tro Remains, Hoa Binh and Dong Son culture as well as historical relics like Quang Binh Gate, Luy Thay, Rao Sen… Many places related two resistance wars name Cu Nam, Canh Duong, Cha Lo, Cong Troi, Xuan Son, Long Dai and Ho Chi Minh Trail.

In the course of history, has formed many famous cultural villages and begin proceedings from generation to generation like “Bat danh huong”: “Son-Ha-Canh-Tho-Van-Vo-Co-Kim”. Many famous celebrity predecessors in the past and present in many areas of military, cultural – social as Duong Van An, Nguyen Huu Canh, Nguyen Ham Ninh, Hoang Ke Viem, Vo Nguyen Giap, etc.
