TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 01: HANOI - MAI CHAU

7:00 am, our tour guide and driver pick you up at hotel in Hanoi. The journey to Mai Chau is 137 kilometers (~ 3.5 hours). A long the way, you discover Thung Khe pass where you have a panorama of the village of Muong people. Muong people make up a high population in Hoa Binh province. Everyday they collect some products in their village and sell them on the pass. At the top of the pass you can take photograph of Mai Chau valley, see surrounding villages of Thai people.
At noon, you arrive in Mai Chau valley, have lunch and check in at the homestay of Thai people. In the afternoon, you enjoy easy trekking or biking around their villages, discover their daily life: seeing how they cultivate wet rice, harvesting their food crops… Mai Chau is becoming more quiet and peaceful when sunset comes, because this time local people are going to finish their working day and go back home for dinner time. You can see more daily activities take place at this time.

DAY 02: MAI CHAU - SON LA

You have breakfast at homestay and then say good bye Moc Chau for Son La (~178 kilometers). In the morning, the route to Moc Chau plateau you visit a village of Thai people, a tea plantation. If you pass here in the spring season you may see peach flower or plum flower. You have lunch on the way to Son La
In the afternoon, you arrive in Son La city. Son La city belongs to Son La province, population is ~ 106 thousands people. Most of people here are Thai people or Viet people who came from low land of Vietnam. You visit Son La prison to learn why the French Colonialist built a prison here, and why we choose Son La as a destination for your trip. You stay overnight at hotel in Son La city.

DAY 03: SON LA - DIEN BIEN PHU

From Son La city to Dien Bien Phu is not so far (~153 kilometers). The route is the national road No 6 to Pha Din Pass. You have breakfast in hotel, check out hotel and then leave Son La for Dien Bien Phu. On route, you discover Pha Din Pass – one of four greatest passes in northern Vietnam. On this pass you may see white H’mong people, they come from nearby villages to sell their farm products.
Arriving in Dien Bien Phu at noon, you have lunch and then check in hotel. In the afternoon our guide takes you to visit the French Headquarter of Dien Bien Phu. All relics are located in Dien Bien Phu city, you alternately visit: Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum, De Castries Bunker, A1 Hill, Monument of Dien Bien Phu Victory, a market at Muong Thanh bridge.

DAY 04: DIEN BIEN PHU - SAPA

This route you have chance to go through the most remote villages in the far northwestern part of Vietnam. At Ma Thi Ho Pass, you visit a village of red H’mong people. In Vietnam, H’mong people have five different groups. we call them with different names due to the colors of their costume. And of course, you just see them when you have a trip through here.
About 100 kilometers from Dien Bien phu city, our guide will show you Muong Lay township on the bank of Da river – the biggest river in the northwest of Vietnam. This township was rebuilt since we built Son La Hydro Electric Plant. The Road becomes more amazing when you reach quiet and peaceful Nam Na river. Nothing is more wonderful than a river with beautiful scenery and fresh air here.
You have lunch in Phong Tho and continue the trip to Sapa. On route, you visit Bo village of Lu people in Tam Duong. At O Quy Ho Pass, you stop to take photograph and enjoy nice view of the pass. If you have enough time, our guide will show you Silver Waterfall before you arrive in Sapa.

DAY 05: SAPA - TA GIANG PHINH - BAN KHOANG

After your breakfast in hotel, our guide takes you to a remote village Ta Giang Phinh (~ 25 kilometers from Sapa town). This is the village of black H’mong people who make up 51 percent of Sapa’s population. You go trekking for about 2 hours through their village, rice fields, visiting their traditional house.
After lunch, our tour guide and driver take you to Ban Khoang village of red Dao people. This is also untouched village, 5 kilometers from Ta Giang Phinh. Dao people came to Vietnam from China about 200 ~ 300 years ago. In Sapa, they make up the second biggest population. You are welcome here to visit, visit their houses and see them making handicraft brocade. Finish the trip, you go back to Sapa town, stay over night in Sapa.

DAY 06: SAPA - DRAGON JAW MOUNTAIN

Today you go climbing to discover a panorama of sapa town on the peak of Dragon Jaw Mountain. This mountain is located in the center of Sapa town, decorated with many beautiful flower gardens, rocky cliffs and nice view of surrounding area.
You have breakfast and go trekking from your hotel to Dragon Jaw Mountain. The trip often takes between 2 or 3 hours. In the afternoon, you have free time to relax before you start the trip to the northeast of Vietnam.

DAY 07: SAPA - HA GIANG - QUAN BA

You say good bye to Sapa for Ha Giang and Quan Ba (~293 kilometers). Today, your trip move from northwest to northeast Vietnam. 38 kilometers back to Lao Cai city, you visit Lao Cai International Border Gate, mother temple. Along the way to Ha Giang city, there are a lot of villages of Tay people and Pa Then people. In Vietnam, Pa Then people have low population (~ 7,000 people), they mainly live in Ha Giang province (84% of their population in Vietnam). You stop and visit them in Tan Bac commune, have lunch on the way to Ha Giang city.
Afternoon time is more interesting, our car take you higher up to the altitude about 1,000 meters above sea level. You discover a village of Bo Y people who have low population in Vietnam (~ 3,000 people). Higher mountain is Heave Gate and Fairy Double Mountains where you go climbing up and enjoy amazing view of Tam Son town and Nam Dam village of Dao people. You stay over night in Nam Dam to discover the daily life of Dao people with their unique custom and culture.

DAY 08: SAPA - YEN MINH - DONG VAN - MEO VAC

We have organized so many trips to these destinations and all got appreciation from our tourists. Do you know why? Because these destinations are located in Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, recognized by UNESCO in 2010. It covers an area of 2,356 square kilometers, lies at an altitude of between 1,400 ~ 1,600 meters above sea level.
In the morning, you go through the center of the geopark, enjoy sightseeing and photographs of so many beautiful valleys and passes. The people here are mostly white H’mong people, you are welcome to any their village. In Dong Van, you discover the Palace of King Vuong Chinh Duc – the king of H’mong people during the French war in the Geopark. You have lunch in Dong Van old town.
Afternoon time is the most wonderful time of your day. The journey is 21 kilometers between Dong Van and Meo Vac is Ma Pi Leng Pass where you see a panorama of Nho Que river, Tu San alley – the symbol of Dong Van Geopark. You visit Youth Monument and Happiness Road Museum to understand how hard they build Ma Pi Leng Pass and Happiness Road between 1959 and 1965.
Staying overnight in Meo Vac town is a good idea to enjoy quiet atmosphere and discover local market in the afternoon and early morning.

DAY 09: MEO VAC - BAO LAC - CAO BANG

After your breakfast setting up by hotel or our tour guide you will be on your journey to Cao Bang city. This trip is highlight with some rivers flowing along the roads. Inhabitants who reside along the roads are mostly ly Tay people and Dao people and Lo Lo people living in deep valleys. In Bao Lac, you visit a village of Lo Lo people. They are frienndly and welcome any tourists who wish to visit their home.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant. You stay overnight at Hotel in Cao Bang city.

DAY 10: CAO BANG CITY - BAN GIOC FALLS

This morning will be an interesting experience for your trip to the frontier area between Vietnam and China. This area you have chance to discover their daily life of Nung people, see how they make working tools in their village.
Nguom Ngao or Tiger grotto is also special for it’s story. The grotto is long and a lot of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. You visit the grotto and have lunch a local restaurant before our tour guide take you to Ban Gioc falls.
Ban Gioc falls are known as the forth greatest falls along a national border. This is the most beautiful waterfall in Vietnam, attracting a lot of Vietnamese tourists and foreign tourists come to visit. However, the falls also become drier in the dry season.

DAY 11: CAO BANG CITY - BOAT TRIP IN BA BE NATIONAL PARK

In the morning, you leave Cao Bang city for Ba Be National Park (~128 kilometers). Ba Be means “three lakes” in Tay language. Ba Be national park was established in 1992 to protect one of twenty most important fresh water lakes in the world.
Along the way to Ba Be you are passing four passes: Tai Ho Sin, Cao Bac, Khau khang and Gio. You stop for sightseeing and photographs.
At noon, you arrive at Cho Ra town where you stop for lunch at a local restaurant and prepare what you need for your amazing boat trip along Nang River and Ba Be Lakes. The boat trip will start at Puoc Lom pier on the bank of Nang river. The first you stop at Puong cave – 200 meters long along Nang river, and then you visit Dau Dang fall, Ba Be lakes. You stay at homestay of Tay people in Pac Ngoi village.

DAY 12: BA BE - HUA MA GROTTO - HANOI - TOUR ENDS

Pa Ngoi is really quiet and peaceful village. At their homestay, you are easy to have a nice view with Ba Be lakes and their farms on the banks of the river. It will be a special experience if you could get up early and take a shot walk around the village to discover the real daily life of the local people.
After breakfast, you can choose one of these options: biking, walking or by our car for the trip 6 kilometers to Hua Ma cave. Hua Ma cave is worth to visit with it’s untouched beauty. Lunch is served on the way back Hanoi.
